HOW TO APPLY

Open Design Italia selects through a Call for Application designers, fashion designers, makers, craftsmen and companies and/or studios working in the field of self-produced and small series design.

Application is free. Selected designers taking part in the exhibition will be required to pay, by a precise deadline ( to be communicated), a fee to cover the organizational, communication and space-rental costs. Should the deadline expire with no payment effected, the pre-emption right shall be rendered invalid and applications will be opened to those held in reserve.

The documentation specified in the Call for Application shall be submitted by 23/2/2015, at 6,00 pm (GMT+1)


PROJECT CATEGORIES

Products (not prototypes) belonging to one of the following categories may be submitted:

Product design: objects, technology, packaging, other products
Interior design: furniture, decoration, textiles, lighting
Fashion design: fashion, accessories, jewels, textiles
Communication design: graphic design, publishing, web, applets
Urban design: public furniture

SELECTION CRITERIA

Open Design Italia Staff will select the best projects on the basis of:

_Originality and innovation
_Technical functionality and aesthetic quality
_Technology adopted and sustainability of the production chain
_Links with the designer’s territory and the synergies with local production companies
_Ability to communicate and present the products
_Marketability

Open Design Italia Staff will then communicate approved participation to each selected applicant at Open Design Italia 2015.


For designers resident* in the Netherlands:
The  Netherlands Embassy in Rome and the Consulate General  in Milan contribute to the special section by offering a stand to  three designers selected by the Open Design Italia Team.
The other designers from the Netherlands selected will still be able to participate by paying the exhibition fee.
*Documentation attesting residency  in the Netherlands will be required.

For Makers: In addition to the selection process organized by Open Design Italia Team, Makers who apply to the competition will have access to a further selection process, organized by MUSE Science Museum in Trento, which is recognized for its initiatives related to the Maker Movement. The two winners of this selection process will each have a free exhibition space made available by The MUSE during the three days of Open Design Italia 2015.
The other selected makers can, anyhow, participate by paying the exhibition space fee.
