Founded in Turin in 2015 by young Walter D’Esposito, Valeria Francescato, Giuseppe Monopoli and Alessia Pagotto, Sotterranea Officina Sperimentale is a laboratory and a design studio. The studio’s hallmark is the concern for research, materials experimentation and prototyping, which takes place in the studio itself.

Sostanza (Substance) is made of graphite, wood and silver. It revisits the ordinary lead holder with a pencil’s iconic characteristics; a thin ring blocks the lead.
